The best places to see snowdrops in Norfolk

It’s that time of year when the signs of spring begin to show along the Norfolk coast. One of our favourites is the first sight of snowdrops. Thriving in gardens, woodlands and local orchards, their nodding white flowers and green leaves are a very welcome sight.

Our closest and favourite places to see snowdrops in North Norfolk are;

Walsingham Abbey

Just thirty minutes’ drive from Caley is the delightful Walsingham Abbey. With 18 acres of Pensthorpe, Pensthorpe Road, Fakenham, UKgrounds and deciduous woodland with chalky alkaline, humus rich soil it offers the perfect conditions for snowdrops to thrive. From January to March Walsingham Abbey is carpeted with snowdrops and aconites. During snowdrop season Walsingham grounds are open daily from 10-4pm from Monday 27^th January to Sunday 2^nd March with a special Snowdrop Charity Day on Saturday 15^th February.

Pensthorpe Natural Park

Another thirty-minute drive from Caley (and only 13 minutes from Walsingham Abbey) lies Pensthorpe Natural Park. The ultimate destination for an action-packed day out for the whole family. From January to March the Wave Line Garden is blanketed with snowdrops offering the perfect walk in nature. With magical gardens, feathered friends, both indoor and outdoor play areas there’s something for everyone at Pensthorpe.

Blickling Estate

Slightly further afield, but less than an hour’s drive from Caley is The National Trusts, Blickling Estate. You’ll find snowdrops dotted throughout the grounds as well as the winter garden. Offering beautiful walks through the stunning parkland it’s the perfect time of year to visit.
